Established in 1926 in Grenchen, Switzerland, Nivada Grenchen boasts a rich history that weathered countless storms. Over the years, the brand has cemented its reputation for crafting reliable and enduring timepieces especially tool watches, becoming a trusted name amongst watch enthusiasts. In a remarkably short time, Nivada Grenchen established itself as a leader in innovation. Within just four years of its inception, the brand become a pioneer in the production of automatic watches.

Impactful innovations

Nivada Grenchen’s rich history is marked by a string of innovative creations. Over the years, the brand has introduced numerous impactful models that have left their mark on the watchmaking world. In 1950, the brand introduced the Nivada Antarctic – the brand’s first automatic water-resistant watch. This landmark timepiece not only pushed boundaries in technology but also played a role in history, accompanying explorers on the U.S. Antarctic expedition Operation Deep Freeze I to the South Pole.

The brand later broke new ground with the Depthomatic, a revolutionary timepiece that was hailed by many as the world’s first dive watch with an integrated depth gauge. The Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver, introduced din 1963, quicky became Nivada’s flagship, symbolizing the very essence of the company as its signature chronograph.

A 21st century twist

After a period of inactivity, Nivada Grenchen made a triumphant return in 2020. Spearheaded by French entrepreneurs Guillaume Laidet and Remi Chabrat, the brand’s revival focused on honoring its rich heritage. The duo recognized the potential of Nivada’s legacy and boldy reintroduced the brand’s core collections: the Chronomaster, Antarctic and Depthmaster. These reimagined timepieces celebrate the brand’s heritage by faithfully replicating the original designs and functionalities. The brand has also signed up for a collaboration with Time+Tide to release a series of limited edition models that embrace a fresh perspective while staying true to their heritage.

The Nivada Grenchen Antarctic collection honors the legacy of the iconic 1950s model.
