The history of Fears is one of resilience and revival. The brand endured heavy losses during the bombings of 1940s, and in 1976, the quartz crisis forced it to close. But in the 2010s, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, a descendant of founder Edwin Fear, unearthed his family’s watchmaking legacy after interning at Rolex. Inspired, he brought Fears back to life, launching the Redcliff as its first new release – a watch named after the Bristol street where Fears first started making watches nearly 180 years ago.
Since its relaunch, Fears has cemented its reputation as distinguished watchmaker, designing and assembling its timepieces entirely in the UK. Crafted in small batches by skilled watchmakers in British workshops, each Fears model reflects the brand’s commitment to quality and longevity.
