From the heart of New York, watch microbrand Lorca made an immediate impression with its debut, the model No. 1 GMT. Steering clear of industry trends, founder Jesse Marchant leaned into nostalgia, championing the compact 37mm factor beloved in GMTs of old for the brand’s first model. It’s a rare chance for modern collectors to experience those golden proportions.
The dial carries a personality of its own, echoing subtle Art Deco influences. Long applied steel indices contrast with elongated painted minute markers for a unique play of proportions. Dauphine-style hour and minute hands are joined by a GMT hand with a diamond-shaped lume tip, while an asymmetrical date aperture at 3 o’clock increases the dial charm. A closer look at the dial reveals a cross-hair motif, an understated touch that reflects Lorca’s devotion to detail.
The Model No. 1 GMT was born from Marchant’s time on the road as a touring musician in Europe. Seeking a travel companion who could accompany him on stage and on his adventure, he designed the GMT with vintage allure. The resulting piece boasts a finely finished case blending brushed and polished surfaces, crowned by a steel GMT bezel engraved with a black 24-hour scale.
Lorca Model No. 1 GMT HIGHLIGHTS
Made to be yours
At its heart, the Lorca Model No.1 is driven by the Swiss-made Soprod C125 R4 Top Grade automatic movement, offering a 42-hour reserve and remarkable accuracy at +/-4 seconds per day. Though adorned with Côtes de Genève finish and an engraved rotor, the caliber remains hidden behind a solid caseback, left intentionally blank to welcome a personal engraving.
Strength in a smaller form
Lorca designed the bracelet of the Model No.1 to be as versatile as the watch itself. Its intricate nine-link structure, featuring small brushed links framed by broader ones, wraps the wrist with ease. Beyond style, the watch asserts its durability with 200m of water resistance—assurance that elegance and resilience can go hand in hand.
