Linde Werdelin

The shape of adventure

Even at first glance, Linde Werdelin watches are instantly recognizable due to their complex, angular cases that embody a modern, high-tech aesthetic. All Linde Werdelin watches are based on the same case, a 44m case, 15mm in profile, which was originally created to accommodate the brand’s digital instruments for skiing and diving. Called the Rock and the Reef, these used to snap onto the watches, giving them a unique technical edge. Another common design feature is the prominent bezel that frames the dial and adds to the distinctive character. Linde Werdelin is also known for experimenting with materials, for instance, ALW (Alloy Linde Werdelin), a material usually used by the aerospace and Formula 1 industries but now brought to watchmaking for the brand’s Oktopus models.

The origins of the Linde Werdelin brand sprang from adversity. During a skiing session in 1996, one of the brand’s founders was blown off course due to bad weather and suffered an accident. The event, while traumatic, inspired him to set out to develop a new kind of sports watch. Shaped by this vision, Linde Werdelin now offers precise watches and instruments meant to provide skiers and divers with the right information at the right time. Each piece is powered by a custom-made movement for Linde Werdelin, developed specifically for the watch it serves.

Linde Werdelin HIGHLIGHTS

Built to climb

Linde Werdelin’s main collections include the Spido line, which is designed for high altitude sports or any other alpine activities. Boasting an extreme skeletonization of the case and even dial and movement on some models, implemented for both style and to lighten the watches dramatically, the Spido line offers an increased overall performance with every new model. Across the range, Linde Werdelin has made use of various materials, including the proprietary 3DTP carbon, titanium, and even gold, showcasing its passion for reaching new frontiers.

A different way to dive

Linde Werdelin also caters to underwater exploration with the Oktopus collection. Inspired by the deep, it was launched with the intent of creating new compelling watches by making use of innovative materials and unconventional applications of traditional ones. Notably, the Oktopus lineup is home to some intriguing models such as the MoonLite which incorporates a moon-phase complication into a dive watch. Immediately identifiable, the Oktopus models feature a chunky bezel that is run through with a total of 8 screws, while retaining the same angular case as the Spido models.
