FORMEX ESSENCE CERAMICA

Founded in Biel, Switzerland, in the late ‘90s, Formex is a family-owned independent watchmaker driven by innovation and a passion for unique designs. Renowned for its dynamic lineup of sports watches, the brand’s flagship Essence collection pushes boundaries, and nowhere else is this more evident than with the Ceramica models, which swap traditional stainless steel for sleek, high-performance ceramic.

FORMEX ESSENCE CERAMICA

A touch of the infinite

While the Ceramica dials stay true to the Essence design language, Formex takes things further with a bold meteorite option. Made from solid “Muonionalusta” iron meteorite and finished with a precise dark-nickel treatment to enhance the naturally occurring Widmanstädter pattern, the Dark Matter model adds a cosmic character to the collection’s already sleek, dark look. Gunmetal indices and hands, coated in Super-LumiNova BGW9, add a subtle contrast against the dial’s galactic texture, glowing softly when the light fades. Framing the dial is a recessed chapter ring, marking minutes/seconds.

The Essence Ceramica collection commands attention with its shadowy appeal. Anchoring its piece is a 41mm case crafted entirely from Zirconium oxide ceramic, matched seamlessly by a bezel made from the same material. Rounding out the watch’s bold aesthetic is a matching ceramic solid-link bracelet, featuring vertical brushing and diamond-polished bevels for added visual punch. A ceramic clasp with the brand’s patented micro-adjustment system lets you obtain the perfect fit, offering 5mm of sizing flexibility in four 1.25mm increments.

FORMEX ESSENCE CERAMICA HIGHLIGHTS

Built differently

Unlike typical meteorite dials mounted on brass plates, the Ceramica Dark Matter is entirely structural, an engineering-driven feat that highlights Formex’s technical edge. At 6 o’clock, a precision-milled date window integrates seamlessly into the dial’s architecture. Underneath, Formex’s signature Case Suspension System returns, allowing the case to subtly flex and absorb shocks for enhanced everyday resilience. A solid screw-down crown on the right side makes time-setting a breeze.

Prepared for every turn

Power comes courtesy of the Soprod Newton P092, a COSC-certified automatic caliber developed exclusively for Formex. Delivering a 44-hour power reserve, the movement is on full display through a sapphire caseback, revealing elegant black-gold accents and a skeletonized rotor. Rounding things out, the Essence Ceramica models deliver a 100m water resistance rating for everyday versatility.
