The Arcanaut Fordite dial is a pure expression of Scandinavian minimalism, stripping away traditional hour markers and indices to let the mesmerising colours take centre stage. This design choice allows the psychedelic swirls of Fordite to remain uninterrupted, transforming each watch into a wearable work of art. A sleek pair of skeletonised hands with lumed tips enhance readability while subtly blending into the dial.

Arcanaut’s Fordite collection takes an unexpected piece of history and transforms it into artful dials. Fortide, also known as Motor City Agate, is a relic of the automotive industry’s past – formed from layers of hand-sprayed paint that hardened over time in factory booths. These vibrant deposits, once considered industrial waste, are now hand-cut and polished into stunning watch dials by James Thompson, Arcanaut’s co-founder and Chief of Material Development.

The Arcanaut Fortide watch isn’t just about the dial – it’s about the full experience. Its cushion-shaped Arc case, paired with an integrated rubber strap, delivers both comfort and attitude. A brushed bezel sharpens the contrast, ensuring the psychedelic dial remains the focal point. Measuring 41mm wide and 13mm thick, the watch is sized for everyday wear. The finishing touch? Arcanaut’s proprietary Pentablock crown which boasts a fully integrated and motionless square design and seamlessly blends into the case for a futuristic aesthetic.

Swiss power inside

Arcanaut infuses the Fordite collection with Swiss mechanical excellence, equipping each timepiece with a Soprod A10 movement. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this high-performance calibre delivers a reliable 42-hour power reserve. A unique engraving on the caseback presents Fordite as an element on the period table, playing tribute to its industrial origins. Designed to go wherever life takes you, the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres, ensuring durability without compromising its striking aesthetic.
