Zodiac Sea-Chron

Zodiac has revisited its archives to craft its latest Sea-Chron models, drawing inspiration from the original 1960s releases. A couple of these vintage-style chronographs have made their way to Time+Tide, blending the rich heritage of diving watches with modern features and a striking design.

A dive-ready chronograph

With a 42mm stainless steel case and a 16.5mm profile, the Zodiac Sea-Chron models showcase a sleek yet durable aesthetic. The watches pick up a few design cues from the brand’s classic Sea Wolf models, but bets on cleaner aesthetics, while also including a unidirectional bezel and tall pushers. At the dial’s perimeter, the tachymeter scale adds further practicality, making this watch suitable for both underwater explorations and sport timing on land.

The Zodiac Sea-Chron presents a striking sunray dial arranged in a classic tri-complax configuration, with registers positioned at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. These subdials handle minute and hour counting along with a running seconds display. Coated with Super-LumiNova, the hour markers, hands and bezel markings ensure visibility in low-light environments. This subtle application of lume delivers a understated look, making the Sea-Chron ideal for bot dive functionality and stylish wearability.

Built for endurance

Powering the Zodiac Sea-Chron is the reliable Sellita 510b automatic movement, known for its precision and durability. This robust calibre offers a generous 62-hour power reserve ensuring the watch keeps ticking no matter what. Operating at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), it delivers smooth timekeeping performance. Securing this mechanism is a screw-down case back, which not only protects the inner workings from external elements but also features the Zodac logo, adding a signature touch of elegance to tis rugged timepiece. Wrapping up this package, is a 200m water resistance certification.

Contrasting elegance

Currently, Time+Tide offers two variations of the Zodiac Sea-Chron. The first features a classic reverse panda aesthetic, pairing a black dial and bezel with contrasting white subdials and tachymeter scale. The second model presents a modern twist with a deep blue dial, black bezel and black subdials. Both options come fitted with a sturdy stainless steel Jubilee-style bracelet enhancing the timeless appeal.
