Arcanaut’s D’Arc Matter collection tells a story of ingenuity and experimentation. In a process led by co-owner and Chief of Materials Research, James Thompson, Scandinavian slate is transformed into a cutting-edge composite through an unconventional method – ground in an industrial coffee grinder and fused with an ultra-clear UV-resistant binding agent. This modern material is then enhanced with vibrant 3D Lumicast dial element, developed in partnership with Swiss luminescence experts RC Tritec. The result is a watch face that is both minimalistic and visually arresting, standing as a testament to Arcanaut’s pioneering spirit.

Arcanaut’s D’Arc Matter collection continues the brand’s tradition of ergonomic excellence with its unmistakable Arc case. CNC-machined in Copenhagen, this 40.5mm cushion-shaped case is the foundation of every Arcanaut timepiece, ensuring a perfect balance of form and function. A standout feature is the signature Pentablock crown – a bold, square-shaped design that feels both futuristic and nostalgic at the same time. With the seamless integration into the case, it exemplifies Arcanaut’s commitment to unconventional watchmaking.

Swiss engineering inside

While Arcanaut takes pride in using Scandinavian-sourced materials and components, it doesn’t compromise on performance – turning to Swiss watchmaking expertise for its movements. Inside the D’Arc Matter collection is the Swiss-made Soprod A10 calibre, delivering a smooth 28,800 vph beat rate and a solid 42-hour power reserve. Designed for everyday versatility, the collection also boasts 100 metres of water resistance, making it as functional is it is innovative.

The D’Arc Matter collection leaves its mark not just in design but in details. The stainless steel case back is engraved with “DM,” the collection’s very own entry as an element in the periodic table – an artistic tribute to its cutting-edge material innovation practises.
