Collection: Mido Multifort TV Big Date

Square is the new round

The iconic TV-shaped case has made a comeback to the brand's catalogue 50 years after it originally debuted, giving its rich history a modern update.

Leading with '70s design

In the 1970s, colour TV was all the rage, and the bulky CRT displays were housed in absurdly hefty cabinets. This softly rounded square design trend was a hit and inspired clothing, home appliances, and watches, of course. MIDO is paying homage to the eras of Pink Floyd, Queen, and Led Zeppelin with the Multifort TV Big Date, even if many years have passed and we have transitioned to the era of foldable OLED screens and wallpaper TVs.

Picture perfect

As its name suggests, the MIDO Multifort TV Big Date features a large date complication at 12 o’clock, while the dial transitions towards the centre with a smoked effect. The softly squared-off case is very much reminiscent of vintage TV sets, sized at an almost symmetrical 40mm x 39.2mm.

Powered by Calibre 80

The Calibre 80 uses the C07.651 movement as its base, a Nivachron balance spring, and features an instant change of the big date display. The power reserve is 80 hours as you may expect, and the finishing is of an elaboré grade.
