Nodus Obscura

Based in Los Angeles, Nodus is redefining what it means to be a modern microbrand. Its philosophy is simple yet ambitious: to create the best watches possible by marrying rigorous testing with cutting-edge design. The brand’s Design Lab embodies this spirit, a creative hub where watchmakers, designers, and the community collaborate to push the boundaries of watch design. From this dynamic comes the Obscura, a timepiece that daringly bridges two worlds, fusing the horology with photography.

Nodus Obscura

Innovation that sets a new standard

The Nodus Obscura breaks new ground as the first watch to integrate an exposure-gauge complication based on the Sunny 16 Rule, a classic technique for gauging proper exposure without a light meter. Conceived from a patented innovation by Beers and Cameras founder Juan Martinez, the Obscura transforms this principle into a practical wrist-worn tool. By working the bezel in combination with the chapter ring, photographers can now access exposure guidance at a glance, the first time such a system has been made available in a production watch.

Through a creative partnership with Beers and Cameras, Nodus presents the Obscura, a watch crafted for the analogue photography community. More than a watch, it’s designed to stay with you whether you’re shooting film or relaxing with friends. At its center lies a distinctive complication that distinguishes it in modern horology. The collaboration will continue into 2026, with the Obscura Series II in development.

The bezel that does more

The Nodus Obscura arrives in a 38mm case crafted from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, balanced with a 47mm lug-to-lug span and a trim 11.7mm profile for universal comfort on the wrist. The innovative complication is controlled by a bidirectional bezel with an aluminum inlay and 16 clicks (between 12 and 4 o’clock), accented by a bronze grip finished in black DLC.

From the lab to the wrist

The first-generation Nodus Obscura debuted with a matte black dial, while the upcoming Series II will introduce a fumΓ© finish designed to echo the texture of film grain. Its bold indices and oversized hour and minute hands, treated with Super-LumiNova BGW9, ensure legibility even in low light. Completing the rugged package are a DLC-coated bronze screw-down crown and 100m of water resistance. Delivered with both a steel bracelet, equipped with Nodus’ signature extension claps, and a rubber strap, the Obscura adapts to any occasion.
