Description

The contemporary Fears watch.

Hand built in England.

Taking its name from the Bristol street where the company was first founded in 1846, the new Fears Redcliff Collection is designed to be an elegant and sophisticated everyday timepiece.

  • Case: 39.5mm, 316L stainless steel, brushed and polished, 20mm lug width
  • Dial: Cherry red, sunburst, white printing with coral pink accents
  • Bracelet: 3-link, stainless steel bracelet with screw links and fold-over clasp with micro-adjust (plus dark-grey textile strap)
  • Movement: LJP G100, time and date, automatic, 68hr power reserve
  • Water Resistance: 150 metres (15 ATM)

CASE

The Redcliff 39.5 Date is housed in a contemporary round case with integrated lugs alongside a screw-down case back, bezel and crown. Spanning 39.5mm in diameter yet with a case thickness of only 9.98mm, this slim case combines a bushed middle-section with the polished finish of the bezel's graceful profile. The proportions of the case and its integrated lugs help ensure the watch will perfectly fit the contours of any wrist.

DIAL

The Redcliff 39.5 Date Cherry Red features a bright and eye-catching red that vividly captures the unique tones of a punnet of freshly-picked cherries.

Expertly made in Germany, the main section of the dial features a sunburst finish to the surface with a finely-milled CNC grooves on the lowered chapter ring. The richness of this hand-varnished dial is completed by the subtle addition of white (and in particular) coral pink printed accents.

At 3 o’clock a date window is cut into the dial revealing a colour-matched date disc featuring numerals in our own bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeset. The window itself features a shallow bevel running around all four sides to aide legibility whilst reading the date and gives the optical illusion of it appearing larger.

The baton indexes are crafted from a block of brass before being diamond polished and coated in precious rhodium. The 12 o'clock index also features a subtle reference to another great Bristolian historical reference (the shape and form of the towers that hoist the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge).

Each indices has been hand-filled with X1-Grade Super-LumiNova in Switzerland before being carefully hand-applied to the dial.

HANDS

The Redcliff 39.5 Date's distinctive ‘Fears’-shaped hands are tri-bevelled and diamond polished before in this example being finished in a coating of rhodium (thus matching the indices).

During the day the tri-bevelled edges will catch the light brilliantly, allowing the time to be read easily. Whilst in low-light conditions, the bright X1-Grade lume (a first for the core collection) glows with a strong blue colour colour and stays charged throughout the night - making for the perfect travelling companion.

MOVEMENT

The Redcliff 39.5 Date is powered by a customised Swiss-made, automatic La Joux-Perret G100 movement. Winding itself when worn on the wrist this movement features a quick-set date, a generous power reserve of 68 hours and a decorated winding rotor concealed by a closed case back.

BRACELET & STRAP

The Redcliff 39.5 Date comes with both a bespoke 3-link stainless steel bracelet and a 3D-woven textile strap.

Bracelet

Featuring solid screw links, the bracelet combines brushed and polished elements and has a substantial feel while the silky-smooth movement of the links ensure a comfortable fit around the wrist. The bracelet can be adjusted for a perfect fit with both 6mm and 8mm screw links but also adjusted 'on the move' via a push button micro-adjustment featured located within the trigger-release fold-over clasp. This ensures a comfortable fit always.

The perfect fit!

When you purchase a Redcliff 39.5 Date we can adjust the bracelet size for you before sending it. Please contact us by email with your order number and wrist size and we’ll do the rest. We will provide any spare links in an envelope with your watch.

Extra Strap

Included with each Redcliff 39.5 Date is a woven textile strap made from a tightly 3D woven nylon material with an Alcantara lining, quick-release spring bars and finished with Fears' new bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cipher).

Customise

You can customise your Redcliff 39.5 Date with any strap designed for a 20mm lug width, including any strap from the Fears range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.

    INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, this number helps Fears identify your watch and its history.

    AMOS BOX

The entire Fears core collection is now presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke Fears Blue colour. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lay flat. Recognising the companies heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discretely engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.

We are here to democratise watches. We approach watches with an open mind. Your budget, your AD relationships, the current state of  your collection, it doesn’t make a difference to us – we see value at every end of the spectrum, and we can help build your collection, build your knowledge while keeping it all as fun as absolutely possible. We are all about opening up the conversation, and about giving you advice that has value.

Don't take our word for it, check out our recent Google reviews:

"For as long as I'm alive, I will ALWAYS check Time&Tide before buying another watch. I'm going to have difficulty explaining how over-the-top and personable their customer service is through a mere Google review. You're going to have to feel it for yourself, and I have no doubt that you will..." Read the full review.

"Really enjoyed the visit to Time+Tide Watches Melbourne, clearly run by enthusiasts, appreciated the honest opinions, refreshing to chat to guys with appreciation for watches in general who aren’t trying to push a certain brand or meet quotas, different to the traditional visit to an AD, but certainly in a good way." Read the review.

"I'm a new customer and have had a great experience. I live outside of Australia and Time+Tide are the only retailers for DOXA in my region, Sean and his team have been nothing but accommodating in helping me purchase my watch and also facilitate a non standard pick up method. Really appreciate the help and time fellas, cheers. Highly recommended and will definitely be back for another DOXA in the future." Read the review.

"Great group people, that are very knowledgeable. The location itself is a little hidden and may be easily missed. The staff themselves were very friendly and honest about their opinion. It is definitely more relaxed and friendly then other watch AD. I can recommend stopping in there and having a discussion about watches if you’re passionate about them. Overall, very great experience and happy with my purchase." Read the review.

"Definitely had a great experience choosing a watch to buy. They were extremely knowledgeable and gave me plenty of options and suggestions that fit my needs. Definitely were not pushy and it looks like everyone there just has a passion for watches. Shout out Kieran!" Read the review.
