Gaga Laboratorio Labormatic

Italian flair, Swiss heart

Design may be central to the Gaga Laboratorio Labormatic collection, but it is far from the only priority. Keen to pair Italian creativity with Swiss watchmaking expertise, the brand equips its timepieces with the La Joux-Perret G100 movements offering 68-hour reserve and complete with a customized rotor bearing the Gaga logo. The movement can be admired through the exhibition caseback, while the brand’s name, rendered in compelling typeface, is engraved along the side of the case. The Labromatic balances style with practicality, offering water resistance of 50m.

Founder Ruben Tomella, also the creator of the flamboyant Gaga Milano brand, joined forces with designer and tattoo artist Mo Coppoletta to develop the Labormatic collection. The goal was simple: create timepieces capable of captivating collectors instantly through brash design. The result lives up to that ambition. Each watch features a sculpted 42mm case with a 13.3mm profile and a distinctive architecture that places the crown at 12 o’clock. Adding further character are the flaring lugs, a signature element from earlier Gaga Milano designs now reinterpreted for Gaga Laboratorio.

Gaga Laboratorio Labormatic HIGHLIGHTS

A different way of telling time

On the Labormatic, Gaga Laboratorio abandons the traditional dial arrangement in favor of a more inventive display. The hour is displayed digitally in an aperture at 12 o’clock, while the minutes are indicated on the minute ring below by a spade-shaped hand on the Champagne and Bauhaus models. Surrounding the ring is a polished steel sector frame forming a circle, interrupted only by the hour window. At the very center of the dial, a rotating disc with the brand’s logo shows the running seconds.

A truly dynamic display

For the Azzuro and Cinquanta references, Gaga Laboratorio explores a different take on minute indication. A small blue box moves along the circular minute track, using an arrow-shaped marker to point out the minutes. Instead of simple line-shaped five-minute indices, these models feature printed numerals in an eye-catching typeface. Meanwhile, the Luce edition features an additional seconds disc crafted from natural lapis lazuli, adding both depth and a dynamic visual effect on the dial. The display is also treated with Super-LumiNova. Each watch comes with a color-matched Saffiano leather strap.
