1. MIDO Multifort TV Big Date - Gradient Green Dial
It may have the shape of a big and old CRT TV with static-like lines on the dial to lean into that. However, this watch is far from outdated. Inspired by vintage designs but reimagined as a larger contemporary watch featuring a big date function with individually moving numbers right at 12 o'clock—a bold move.
Inside its 40mm stainless steel case is MIDO's Caliber 80 automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve. Functional, dressy, and even a little bit sporty with its 100m water resistance; this watch is great for everyday wear.
2. G-SHOCK GMWB5000-2DR
G-SHOCK's GMWB5000-2DR presents a bit of both class and sportiness with its all-metal build. In G-Shock's popular 5000-series rectangular shape, it fits nicely being shorter on the vertical end despite being in a 49.3mm case.
Its brushed metal face and T-link metal bracelet would make you think it's a mechanical watch, but it's a G-SHOCK that's built to take beatings and survive up to 200m underwater. It also has some other tricks up its sleeve like the Tough Solar charging technology and Bluetooth for smartphone connectivity.
3. Nivada Grenchen Numerals Date - Depthmaster - 14103A
A seriously fun and beefy dive watch, the Nivada Grenchen Depthmaster is a modern take on Nivada Grenchen's Depthomatic watch from 1964.
It may be a chunky square watch with bulging sides, but those are only its proportions as it is housed in a reasonably 38mm stainless steel case. The case itself is brushed in larger strokes making it look more rugged, while the dial features very large numerals and batons in a fun font. These indices, numerals, and hands are all lumed boldly to make sure you can still see it up to 1000m underwater, if that's even humanly possible.
4. Hamilton American Classic Boulton Mechanical
A classy and traditional dress watch for the sophisticated gentleman. The Hamilton Boulton is the true definition of a dress watch with its manual wind movement. The Boulton first appeared in 1940, but this modern Boulton is powered by Hamilton's H-50 movement with an 80-hour power reserve.
This blue dial and strap on this Boulton is a more modern twist but doesn't go overboard to dilute the elegance of the watch making it great for casual and formal occasions.
5. CASIO CA500WE-1A
This watch is guaranteed to bring you right back to the 80s with its retro gadgety look and calculator function. Who needs a calculator on a phone when there's on the wrist? If you're looking for a rectangular watch, the CA-500WE-1A not only fits the bill, it surpasses it with its alarm function, 1/100 stopwatch and dual time zones.
6. Hamilton American Classic PSR Digital Quartz
Another bold retrofuturistic watch: The Hamilton PSR. While there are more popular digital options out there, the way Hamilton presents the PSR brings it to a different level. Like something straight out of Robocop, this watch goes all in on its singular digital display.
Surrounded by a thick-bezel 40.8mm brushed stainless steel case is a pitch-black dial with a green dotted segmented display. You could almost get lost in its black dial and follow the dots as they make the numerals to tell the time. It's fresh, yet familiar, a great eye-catcher and conversation piece.
